Pamex BC5SN21 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) How far does the Pamex BC5 Seal Beach robe hook stick out from the wall?
Projection is 1-3/4 inches off the wall face, on a 2-3/16 inch round base. That is enough to catch a robe or towel without eating into a tight bath, and it matters where the hook lands beside a swinging door or a shower enclosure - measure your door swing clearance against that 1-3/4 inches before you set the location.
2) Is the Pamex BC5 robe hook heavy enough for a hotel or apartment bathroom, or is it a residential-only part?
Pamex rates the BC5 as residential. It is die-cast zinc rather than a stamped part, and Pamex builds this line for the residential and multi-family market, so it suits apartments, condos and single-family baths. For a high-traffic public restroom or a gym locker area, look to a commercial-rated hook instead.
3) Can the Pamex BC5 robe hook cover the holes left by the hook I am replacing?
The base is 2-3/16 inches in diameter, so it will conceal existing anchor holes only if they fall inside roughly a 2-inch circle. Old hooks with a wider or rectangular escutcheon usually leave holes outside that footprint, which means patching tile or drywall before mounting. Measure your existing hole spacing against the 2-3/16 inch base first.
4) Are the mounting screws hidden on the Pamex Seal Beach BC5 robe hook?
Yes. The BC5 uses concealed surface mount construction, so the fasteners sit behind the base and nothing shows on the finished hook. It surface mounts to the wall, meaning it goes onto finished tile or drywall rather than needing a recessed pocket.
5) What is the Pamex Seal Beach BC5 hook made of, and will it hold up in a bathroom?
Die-cast zinc. Zinc die casting gives it more mass and rigidity than a hollow stamped hook, which is what keeps a robe hook from flexing at the base when someone hangs a wet towel on it. It is bath hardware from the Seal Beach collection, so the finish is intended for a bathroom environment.
6) Will the Pamex BC5 match the towel bar and other bath accessories already installed?
The BC5 is part of Pamex's Seal Beach collection, so it is styled to match the other Seal Beach bath accessories. If your existing pieces are Seal Beach, the hook will read as the same suite. If you are outfitting a whole unit or standardizing across a multi-family property, ordering the hook from the same collection as the bars and rings is how you keep them consistent door to door.
7) Is the Pamex BC5 a single hook or a double?
Single. The BC5 is a one-arm robe hook - one garment position per hook. If you need two hanging points at a single mounting location, a double robe hook is the part to specify; otherwise plan on mounting two BC5 hooks side by side.
