Pamex DD01-160 160 Degree Door Viewer for 1-3/8" to 2-1/4" Door

A 1/2 inch bore. The DD01-160 body is made for a 1/2 inch hole, and the outside trim ring is 5/8 inch in diameter, so it covers the bore with a small margin and nothing else. If the door already has a larger hole from an old viewer, this one will not cover it.

Thickness-wise, yes and then some. The Rockwood 620 is a 160 degree viewer covering 1-3/8 inch to 2 inch doors; the DD01-160 is also 160 degrees and adjusts from 1-3/8 inch to 2-1/4 inch, so it covers everything the 620 does. Check the existing bore first, since the Pamex is sized for a 1/2 inch hole with a 5/8 inch outside diameter.

The Pamex DD01-160 does, adjusting up to 2-1/4 inches. Most viewers stop short of that: the Rockwood 620 tops out at 2 inches, the Trimco 975, 976 and 977 at 2-1/8 inches, and the Hager 1759 at 2-1/8 inches. The one other option for a thick slab is the Rockwood 621, which is built specifically for 2 inch to 2-1/2 inch doors and is UL listed.

In most residential buildings, yes. One DD01-160 adjusts from 1-3/8 inch through 2-1/4 inch, which spans the 1-3/8 inch interior slabs and the 1-3/4 inch entry doors you find in the same building, so you stock one part number and one 1/2 inch bit instead of sorting doors by thickness. Pick the finish per building and the rest is the same order.

If the tenant wants the lens blocked from the inside, the Hager 1759 is a 185 degree one-way viewer with a privacy flap, the Cal-Royal PRIULDV200 is a privacy viewer with a privacy cover and a 200 degree lens, and the Rockwood 624 is a 160 degree viewer with a cover for 1-3/8 inch to 2 inch doors. The Trimco 977 pairs a 200 degree lens with a heavy duty cover.

For a thicker opening, the Rockwood 621 is a UL listed 160 degree viewer for 2 inch to 2-1/2 inch doors, which picks up where the DD01-160 stops. The Rockwood 619, also 160 degree, runs the other direction at 11/16 inch to 1-1/16 inch for thin doors and panels.

The Pamex DD01-160 is a residential 160 degree brass viewer. For a labeled opening, the Ives U700 is a one-way brass viewer with UL fire rating, the Ives U698 is a wide angle one-way viewer that is UL fire rated with a 190 degree view, and the Ives U696 is a fire rated one-way viewer with a 150 degree viewing angle. The Hager 1756 is a 185 degree one-way viewer with a fire rating. Institutional and multi-family buyers specifying to a door label should be working from that group.

Both are brass door viewers, and the Emtek 2610 is a solid brass viewer for a 5/8 inch diameter hole. The Pamex DD01-160 is brass with a 5/8 inch overall diameter but is bored for a 1/2 inch hole, so the two are not interchangeable in an existing bore. Confirm the hole already drilled in the door before treating one as a drop-in for the other.

The Ives 701 does carry a fire rating. For a like-for-like 160 degree replacement across a set of apartment doors, the Rockwood 620 or Trimco 975 stay at 160 degrees.
