PDQ GT137 Grade 1 Store Door Cylindrical Lever Lock

Grade 1 Heavy Duty Commercial Cylindrical Lock

The PDQ GT137 is the Store Door function (ANSI/BHMA F91) of the PDQ GT Series Grade 1 Heavy Duty Cylindrical Lock.

The PDQ GT Series is a Grade 1 heavy duty cylindrical lock certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.2. PDQ positions it as its general purpose Grade 1 lock for everyday commercial exterior and interior openings, with lever torque resistance of 2,200 lbf-in, three times the BHMA/ANSI standard, and cycle testing to over 3 times BHMA standards.

A heavy duty diecast chassis, machined billet steel spindles and a 13 gauge steel anti-rotation plate on the secure side give the lock its strength. A 2:1 latchbolt throw allows a 41 degree lever rotation, which reduces torque and extends the life of the lock. The GT is non-handed, assembled in Lancaster, PA, and offered in Philadelphia, Boston and Miami lever styles.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the GT strong enough for a busy school or office building, or is the XGT needed?
The GT handles standard to heavy commercial traffic and covers most exterior and interior doors in schools, offices and retail buildings. PDQ reserves the XGT, rated to 3,000 lbf-in of torque resistance, for openings facing extreme abuse or vandalism.

Is the GT fire rated and ADA compliant?
Yes. The GT is UL 10C listed for 3 hour fire doors (single doors up to 4' x 8') and complies with ADA and ICC/ANSI 117.1.

Can the GT be used on hurricane rated openings in Florida?
Yes. It is approved for Florida HVHZ installations under PDQ Product Approval FL 21376, with a design load rating of +/- 70.0 PSF on a 3' x 7' single door.

PDQ GT137BSN626L – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the Store Door function on the PDQ GT137 actually do?
Store Door (ANSI/BHMA F91) means the outside lever is locked or unlocked by key only, and both levers retract the latch when unlocked. There is no inside button or thumbturn, so staff lock up at the end of the day with the key and the door stays free during business hours. It is a single cylinder lock, keyed outside only.
2) Will the GT137 fit a 1-3/4 inch door, and how thick a door can it go on?
It covers doors from 1-3/4 inch up to 2-1/4 inch thick and ships preset for 1-3/4 inch, so a standard commercial door needs no adjustment. It installs in the standard ANSI A156.115 (161) cylindrical prep with through-door thru-bolting, so an existing 161 bore takes it directly.
3) Which backset should I order, 2-3/8 or 2-3/4?
2-3/4 inch is the standard and is what most commercial hollow metal doors are bored for; it comes with a deadlocking latch and a 2-1/4 x 1-1/8 inch faceplate. The 2-3/8 inch option is there for narrower-bored doors and uses a 2-1/4 x 1 inch faceplate. One other difference worth knowing: lever rotation is 41 degrees with the 2-3/4 backset, and 65 degrees with the 2-3/4 latch used on double doors.
4) Can the GT137 go on a fire rated door?
Yes. It is UL 10C listed for 3 hour fire doors on single doors up to 4 feet by 8 feet, and it is certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Grade 1. Store Door function with no inside locking means egress is always free from the lever side.
5) Can I key the GT137 into my existing Schlage or Best system?
Yes, in several ways. Conventional cylinders come in SCC (Schlage C compatible) as standard, and keyways can be ordered in Schlage E, Sargent LA and RA-RC, Corbin 59A1/60/L4, Russwin D1, Arrow AR1, Accentra (Yale) E1R and GA, Falcon E-R, Kwikset 5-pin, or PDQ restricted TA. For interchangeable cores, 6-pin and 7-pin small format IC preps are compatible with Best, Falcon and Arrow cores. Schlage large format IC prep is also available, but only with the Philadelphia lever. Keying can be ordered KD, 0-bitted, keyed alike, master keyed, master keyed to existing bittings, or construction master keyed.
6) Do I need to specify handing when ordering a PDQ GT137?
No. The GT is non-handed, so one lock works on a left or right hand door with no field reversing. That makes it simpler to stock a single part number across a building.
7) Will the GT137 match the other lever locks already in my building?
It is offered in Philadelphia, Boston and Miami lever styles and in seven finishes: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 613E dark oxidized satin bronze, 619 satin nickel, 622 flat black, 625 bright chrome and 626 satin chrome. The rose is a 3-3/8 inch diameter wrought brass rose with concealed screws. If the inside and outside of the door need different finishes, the SF split finish option covers that (designate outside trim first).
8) Is the GT137 heavy duty enough for a school or retail entrance, or should I step up to the XGT?
The GT carries 2,200 lbf-in of lever torque resistance, three times the BHMA/ANSI standard, with a diecast chassis, billet steel spindles and a 13 gauge steel anti-rotation plate on the secure side. PDQ positions it as the general purpose Grade 1 lock for schools, offices and retail. Step up to the XGT, rated 3,000 lbf-in, only where the opening faces extreme abuse or vandalism.
9) Is the PDQ GT137 approved for hurricane zone openings in Florida?
Yes. It is approved for Florida HVHZ under PDQ Product Approval FL 21376, with a design load of plus or minus 70.0 PSF on a 3 by 7 foot single door. For a coastal exterior door, the weatherized finish option is also available, limited to 626 satin chrome.
10) Does the GT137 meet ADA lever requirements?
Yes, it complies with ADA and ICC/ANSI 117.1. The 2:1 latchbolt ratio lets the lever operate with only 41 degrees of rotation on the 2-3/4 inch backset, which keeps operating effort low. For visually impaired tactile warning on hazardous doors, abrasive coating can be ordered inside only, outside only, or both sides.
11) Can the GT137 be monitored or tied into an access control system?
The GT137 itself is a mechanical lock, not electronic, but a Request to Exit switch (REX) and an industry standard Molex connector (ISMC) can be specified so the lever signals the access control or alarm panel when it is turned. The locking function stays mechanical and key operated.
12) What extras can I add to a GT137 for a healthcare or X-ray room door?
Two options matter there. Antimicrobial coating (AM) covers inside and outside lever and rose, and is available on 626 satin chrome only. For radiology shielding, the lead-lined rose option (LL) is available. A dust box (DB) can also be added for the strike pocket.
13) How many keys come with a PDQ GT137 lock?
Two keys per lock. If you are setting a building up before the tenant moves in, order 0-bitted (OB) with two blank keys, or construction master keyed (CMK), or specify an SFIC prep with a brass or plastic construction core so the final cores drop in later.
14) What is the latch front size on the GT137 and what material is it?
The front measures 2-1/4 x 1-1/8 inches on the 2-3/4 inch backset (2-1/4 x 1 inch on the 2-3/8 inch backset), in stainless steel or wrought brass, beveled 1/8 inch in 2 inches. That bevel matters on a door that is already prepped with a beveled edge pocket, and the size tells you whether it will cover an existing mortise cut.
