1) What comes in the Pro-Lok Killer Jig installation kit?
The Killer Jig kit is a complete door and jamb prep set: the Killer Jig itself (INJIG-108KJ) in machined aluminum with hardened bushings and a powder coated finish, three bits (a 1-1/2 in. multi spur, a 2-1/8 in. multi spur, and a 1 in. auger), a strike locator (INJIG-116), four marking tools (strike plate marker INJIG-100, latch marker INJIG-101, deadbolt markers INJIG-102 and INJIG-103, lip strike marker INJIG-104), and two sets of hardened bushing plates in 1-1/2 in. and 2-1/8 in. It all lives in a heavy duty case with cut Polyurafoam so each tool has its own slot.
2) Will the Pro-Lok Killer Jig kit bore the standard 2-1/8 inch cross bore and 1 inch edge bore for a cylindrical lockset?
Yes. The kit ships with a 2-1/8 in. multi spur bit for the cross bore and a 1 in. auger bit for the edge bore, which are the two standard prep holes for a cylindrical knob or lever set. It also includes a 1-1/2 in. multi spur bit for smaller cross bores, plus hardened bushing plates in matching 1-1/2 in. and 2-1/8 in. sizes so the jig guides whichever of the two you are cutting.
3) Does the Killer Jig kit handle the jamb side, or only the door?
Both. Along with the door boring tools, the kit carries a strike locator (INJIG-116) and markers for the jamb work: a strike plate marker, a lip strike marker, a latch marker, and two deadbolt markers. That is what lets one installer prep the door and then transfer the strike position to the frame without a second trip to the truck.
4) Is the Killer Jig kit meant for wood doors or metal doors?
The bits decide that. The Killer Jig kit is supplied with multi spur wood bits and a wood auger bit, so it is set up for wood doors and wood jambs. For hollow metal you would need a hole saw or carbide cutter in the same 2-1/8 in. and 1 in. sizes; the jig and its hardened bushings still guide the cut, but the wood bits in the kit are not the tool for steel.
5) I already own a Pro-Lok Killer Jig. Do I need the whole kit or can I just buy bits?
If you have the jig body, the kit is redundant. The Killer Jig kit is the jig plus the accessories that surround it, and each of those pieces is a separate Pro-Lok part: the spur bits (INJIG-118 for 1-1/2 in., INJIG-120 for 2-1/8 in.), the 1 in. auger (INJIG-122), the bushing plate sets (1-1/2 in. and INJIG-126 for 2-1/8 in.), the markers INJIG-100 through INJIG-104, the strike locator INJIG-116, and the case INJIG-114. Buy the kit when you are outfitting a truck from scratch, buy the individual part when you are replacing a dull bit or a lost marker.
6) Why does the Killer Jig kit come with two sets of bushing plates?
Because the jig has to guide two different cross bore diameters. One set of hardened bushing plates is sized 1-1/2 in. and the other 2-1/8 in., matching the two multi spur bits in the kit. You swap the plate to suit the lock you are installing, and the hardened bushing is what keeps the bit from walking and chewing the aluminum jig body.
7) Can the Killer Jig kit prep a door for a deadbolt as well as a lockset?
Yes. Two deadbolt markers (INJIG-102 and INJIG-103) are in the kit alongside the latch marker, and the 1-1/2 in. multi spur bit covers the smaller cross bore a deadbolt typically takes while the 1 in. auger cuts the edge bore. So a single kit does the knob or lever prep and the deadbolt prep above it.
8) What is the Pro-Lok part number to order the complete Killer Jig kit?
