Pro-Lok - Strike Plate – Large Lip

That's one of the main reasons to use it. The large lip strike measures 4-7/8 x 1-1/4 inches, which is bigger than a standard small strike footprint, so it will hide the mortise and screw holes left behind when you pull an undersized plate off the jamb. It reinforces the jamb at the same time.

Nothing extra to buy. The plate ships with 2-1/2 inch screws, which is long enough to pass through the jamb and bite into the wall stud behind it. That's where the kick-in resistance actually comes from, so use the supplied screws rather than the short ones out of the old strike.

For a jamb that split at the strike, the large lip strike is the lighter repair: it spreads the load across a 4-7/8 inch plate and the 2-1/2 inch screws anchor into the stud instead of the thin jamb trim. If the jamb is broken along its full height rather than just at the latch pocket, a plate won't pull that back together and you want a full-length jamb reinforcement instead. For latch-point damage only, this handles it.

Yes, it's rated by Pro-Lok for residential, commercial and industrial use, so a property manager can standardize on one strike across unit entry doors, office doors and back-of-house openings. The 4-7/8 x 1-1/4 inch size is the same in every application.

Chrome is the finish sold as a single-unit item. Pro-Lok also offers the large lip strike in brass, but that one is a bulk pack rather than a single piece, so if you're doing one door, chrome is the one to order.

Plate only. The large lip strike is the piece that mounts on the door jamb and receives the latchbolt from whatever lockset or deadbolt is already on the door. It doesn't change the lock, the cylinder or the keying.
