Metallics MWG2080L – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Are PVC-coated gloves like the Metallics MWG2080L rated for electrical work on live circuits?
No. The MWG2080L is a PVC-coated general handling glove, not an electrical insulating glove. Work on or near energized conductors calls for rubber insulating gloves of the correct class with leather protectors, not a coated knit-wrist work glove.
2) What size are the Metallics MWG2080L PVC gloves?
The MWG2080L is the large size in Metallics' PVC knit wrist glove line. Size is built into the part number, so order MWG2080L when you need large.
3) What is a knit wrist glove and when would an electrician use one instead of a gauntlet cuff?
A knit wrist glove closes snugly at the wrist, which keeps dirt, chips and debris out of the glove and keeps the cuff from catching on conduit, panels or openings while you work. The Metallics MWG2080L is a PVC-coated glove with that knit wrist, so it suits general electrical handling and material work. A gauntlet or safety cuff is the choice when you need forearm coverage or want to shed the glove fast.
