1) How many conduit entries does the RACO 247 square box have, and what sizes?
The RACO 247 has eleven 1/2 in. knockouts and six 3/4 in. knockouts, spread around the sides and back so you can bring conduit in from more than one direction. The 3/4 in. openings let you land larger runs without a reducing fitting, and unused knockouts stay closed until you punch them.
2) Is the RACO 247 box deep enough to mount a device and still fit the splices?
It is 1-1/2 in. deep with a 4-11/16 in. square footprint, which is the shallower of the common 4-11/16 square depths. That is enough room for conductor splices and for mounting a wiring device with a plaster ring or cover, but if you are landing several large conduit runs with a lot of conductors, step up to a 2-1/8 in. deep 4-11/16 square instead.
3) Does the RACO 247 come with a mounting bracket for stud work?
No bracket. The 247 is a bracket-free box, so it is mounted by its own back or side holes, typically surface mounted to a wall or structure or screwed directly to a stud. If you want a box that sets itself to the finished wall line on a stud, order a bracketed version instead.
4) Will a standard 4-11/16 square cover or plaster ring fit the RACO 247?
The box uses the standard 4-11/16 in. square footprint, so 4-11/16 square flat covers, device rings, and plaster rings for that trade size land on it. Covers and rings are separate items, so add them to the order along with any needed conduit fittings.
5) Can I use the RACO 247 square box with NM cable instead of conduit?
It is built for conduit wiring systems. The openings are knockouts for conduit fittings, not cable clamps, so if you are running NM (Romex) you would need a box with built-in cable clamps or you would have to add listed cable connectors at each knockout.
