Both. The 524 ships with a TS bracket rated for metal or wood studs, so the same box covers steel stud commercial partitions and wood stud residential framing without a separate mounting accessory.
2) Can I use the RACO 524 with MC cable without buying separate connectors?
Yes. The 524 has built-in AC/MC/Flex clamps, so Armored Cable, Metal Clad, MCI-A, and Flex land directly at the box and are secured there. You do not add a separate cable connector for those wiring methods. If you are running NM (Romex), this is not the clamp type for it.
3) Can I gang two RACO 524 boxes together for a two-gang switch?
Yes, the 524 is a gangable box. The sides come off so you can join boxes for multi-device installs, which is how you build a 2-, 3-, or 4-gang assembly from single boxes instead of stocking a separate multi-gang box.

No. The 524 is the box with its TS bracket and integral AC/MC/Flex clamps. Device screws aside, the wall plate is ordered separately, and if you need a mud ring or raised cover for drywall depth, that is a separate item too.
