RACO 867 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the RACO 867 cover fit a 4 in. x 2 in. handy box?
Yes. The RACO 867 is a stamped device cover sized specifically for 4 in. x 2 in. handy (utility) boxes, so it sits flush on the box ears for a surface-mounted install. If your box is a 4 in. square or a single-gang switch box, this is the wrong cover.
2) Will a standard 20A duplex receptacle mount in the RACO 867 cover?
The opening is cut for a single 1-20A receptacle, with a 1.594 in. diameter round cutout that seats a standard duplex device. A single round opening means it takes the older round-face 20A receptacle configuration, not a rectangular decorator or GFCI face.
3) Can I use the RACO 867 to replace a damaged receptacle cover on an existing surface-mounted handy box?
Yes, that is one of its intended uses, as long as the existing box is a 4 in. x 2 in. handy box and the device behind it is a round-face 20A receptacle. The 1.594 in. cutout aligns to the device face and the cover screws down to the box ears.
4) What is the RACO 867 part number and where can I get the spec sheet for a submittal?
Order it as RACO 867. The manufacturer spec sheet is published by Hubbell at https://hubbellcdn.com/specsheet/RACO-867-SPEC-EN.pdf, which is what you would attach to a submittal package.
