RACO 3422DC – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What trade sizes does the RACO 3422DC 90 degree liquidtight connector come in?
Two trade sizes: 1/2 inch (MPN 3422DC) and 3/4 inch (MPN 3423DC). Both are die-cast zinc, uninsulated, 90 degree liquidtight connectors. Order by the trade size of the liquidtight flexible conduit you are terminating, not by the knockout size.
2) Can I use the RACO 3422DC liquidtight connector on standard flexible metal conduit (Greenfield)?
No. The 3422DC is built for liquidtight flexible conduit only, so the ferrule and sealing gland are sized to grip the PVC jacket of LFMC/LFNC. On bare flexible metal conduit it will not seal or hold reliably. For standard FMC you need a dedicated flex connector instead.
3) Is the RACO 3422DC liquidtight connector rated for outdoor and wet locations?
It is a liquidtight fitting and is cULus Listed, and the die-cast zinc body resists corrosion, which is why it is used on outdoor and wet-location conduit runs, machinery wiring, and enclosure entries. The seal only performs if the gland nut is tightened down onto the conduit jacket and the enclosure entry is sealed with the gasket and locknut.
4) Is this RACO connector insulated, and do I need a bushing for THHN conductors?
The 3422DC is an uninsulated fitting. There is no plastic throat liner, so where the installation calls for a protected wire entry you add an insulating bushing or specify the insulated-throat version of the connector. For many commercial pulls the uninsulated body is accepted as-is, but it is the detail to check against your spec.
5) Why use a 90 degree liquidtight connector instead of a straight one?
The angled body turns the conduit right at the box, so you do not have to sweep the full bend radius of the liquidtight before it enters. That is the deciding factor when a panel is tight to a wall, equipment is close behind the enclosure, or the conduit would otherwise kink. If you have room to make the bend in the conduit itself, a straight connector is simpler and cheaper per fitting.
6) How many RACO 3422DC connectors come in a pack?
Sold 100 to a pack. That bulk quantity suits contractors doing repetitive machine or rooftop equipment hookups and distributors stocking a fast-moving fitting, but it is more than a single-panel repair needs, so a property manager replacing one or two fittings is buying 98 spares.
7) Is the die-cast zinc body on this RACO connector suitable for a corrosive or washdown area?
Die-cast zinc holds up to general commercial and industrial jobsite conditions and ordinary outdoor exposure. For chemical, coastal, or frequent-washdown environments, specifiers usually move to a stainless or nonmetallic liquidtight fitting instead, since zinc is the general-purpose material rather than the corrosive-duty one.
