Metallics MRB618 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the Metallics MRB618 reciprocating blade used for?
The MRB618 is a reciprocating saw blade for cutting metal. Metallics sells it as a single model, MRB618, and it is stocked as an electrical trade consumable, so the typical use is cutting conduit, threaded rod, strut, and boxes on electrical rough-in work.
2) Is the Metallics MRB618 a single part number or does it come in different lengths?
One configuration only. The MRB618 is ordered as that single model number, so there are no length, thickness, or tooth-count choices to specify when you place the order.
3) Can I use the Metallics MRB618 metal blade to cut wood or PVC?
It's built for metal, and that means a fine tooth pitch. It will cut wood and plastic, but slowly and with heavy heat buildup in PVC. For framing lumber or conduit-sized plastic, use a coarse wood or general-purpose blade instead and keep the MRB618 for steel work.
