It removes the bottom automatic flush bolt and the dust proof strike from the opening entirely. Pair it with an automatic top bolt, which is what keeps the inactive leaf secured in normal use, and it is also the condition of the UL Listing.
4) What else do I need to order with a Rockwood 18BFB to finish the inactive leaf?
An automatic top bolt is required, not optional. The 18BFB carries its UL Listing only when used with one, and in normal daily operation the top bolt is what actually holds the inactive leaf, since the bottom bolt sits retracted until heat releases it. Order the top bolt in the same 630 satin stainless so the pair matches, and make sure the inactive leaf is a metal door, which is what this bolt is prepped for.
5) Do I still need to cut a floor strike for the Rockwood 18BFB?
No dust proof strike is part of this arrangement. The 18BFB replaces the bottom automatic flush bolt and its dust proof strike, and when heat releases the bolt it drops to lock the leaves together.
