The 489 is made to serve a single door or a pair, so a pair of doors does not automatically mean two stops. Mount it so the leaf (or both leaves) strike the stop at the point of travel you want to limit. On very wide leaves or where the doors swing to different stopping points, run one per leaf.

Not necessarily a drop in on the existing holes. The 489 has its own 3 x 2 inch mounting footprint, so unless the old stop shared that pattern you'll be drilling fresh. What it will do is cover the same job: 1 inch of projection off the wall against a single door or a pair. If the old holes are close but not matching, plug and redrill rather than forcing a fastener into a worn hole.
