Silencers only cushion the last fraction of an inch of travel and quiet the contact. They do not control the speed of the door. If the complaint is a door that swings hard and bangs, that is a door closer problem and a 609 will not fix it. If the complaint is a sharp click or rattle when the door lands and when it moves in the frame, silencers are the correct and much cheaper fix.

Gray rubber body with a black prime coat is the finish on the 609. It seats down in the frame stop where the door face covers it, so the color rarely reads from the corridor. If you want the plug to disappear entirely against a dark frame, the black prime coat side is what shows.
