Rockwood 94 Flush Pull

The 94 has a 7/8 inch product depth, so the mortise pocket has to be at least that deep behind the door face. On a 1-3/4 inch commercial door that leaves roughly 7/8 inch of stile behind the cup, which is why it matters where two pulls land if you are putting one on each face. Offset them rather than mounting back to back on the same centerline.

It is built to ANSI A156.6, J403, the architectural door trim standard, and Rockwood lists it as commercial rather than residential hardware. If a spec sheet calls for an A156.6 flush pull, the J403 designation is what the specifier is looking for on the submittal.

Depends on what the opening needs. For a like-for-like commercial cup pull, the Trimco 1060/1061 or the larger Trimco 1111 flush cup pulls cover the same job. If the door is a residential-grade pocket door and the finish has to match decorative trim, the Baldwin Estate 8601 pocket door pull is the passage and dummy option. For a round cutout rather than a rectangular mortise, the Orca Hardware FPULL is a 2-1/8 inch diameter round flush pull. In behavioral health or detention, where anything a ligature can catch on is a problem, the ABH 1911 Series is the ligature-resistant flush pull.

Not as a ligature-resistant pull. The 94 is a standard stainless cup pull, and the closest it gets to a security spec is the TORX option for tamper-resistant screws. If the opening needs a ligature-resistant flush pull, the ABH 1911 Series is the one built for it. Use the 94 on the ordinary side of the facility, offices, corridors, storage, and spec the 1911 where the risk assessment calls for it.

That is the standard commercial finish on push plates, kick plates, and pulls, so it lines up with the satin stainless trim already on most institutional and office openings. If your building is standardized on satin chrome (626) brass hardware, the 94 will read slightly different in tone.

A mortised pull like the Rockwood 94 needs a routed pocket 7/8 inch deep and screws through the flange, which gives you a stainless cup that stays put under commercial traffic. A drive-in pull, like the Trimco 1059, presses into a bored hole with no separate fastening, which is faster on a wood door and common in millwork. Go mortised where the door gets used hard or the pull has to hold a finish and a fastener spec; go drive-in where the install is a bored hole and speed matters.

For a pocket door people operate from both sides, yes, order two, one per face. The 94 is sold as a single pull, and each one mortises 7/8 inch into the door, so stagger the two cutouts vertically or horizontally rather than putting them directly opposite each other on a 1-3/4 inch door.
