1) Will the Klein VISORCLR visor fit any hard hat, or only Klein safety helmets?
Only Klein Tools safety helmets. The VISORCLR is built to mount to Cat. Nos. 60145, 60146, 60147, 60149 and 60150, and Klein states it is designed ONLY to fit Klein Tools Safety Helmets. It will not attach to a conventional brimmed hard hat or another brand's helmet. The helmet itself is sold separately.
2) Does the Klein VISORCLR meet ANSI Z87.1 for impact eye protection on a jobsite?
Yes. The clear half-face visor is tested to ANSI Z87.1+ (2020) for high impact, along with CSA Z94.3-20 and MIL-PRF-32432A Class 1 Clause 3.8.4.1 for ballistic fragmentation. For a safety manager writing a PPE spec, the plus designation on Z87.1 is the high-impact rating rather than basic impact.
3) Can I wear the Klein clear visor instead of safety glasses, or do I still need both?
It is a half-face, wrap-around visor, so it covers the eye and upper face area but does not enclose the eyes the way spectacles or goggles do. Many site rules call for primary eye protection under a faceshield. The visor itself is rated to ANSI Z87.1+ (2020), so it is proper impact-rated PPE, but treat it as face protection and follow your own site policy on wearing glasses beneath it.
4) Does the clear visor fog up when working with a dust mask?
The VISORCLR carries an anti-fog coating that Klein states will not wear off and works even with dust masks. It also has vents to keep air moving under the shield. The lens is additionally treated for scratch resistance, which matters if it gets stowed in a gang box between uses.
