Sargent 10-0513 26D – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Is the 10-0513 a complete lockset or just the lever trim?
Trim only. The 10-0513 is an L lever lock trim component sold as a replacement part, intended to go onto an existing Sargent 7 Line or 10 Line lock. You will still need the lock body, cylinder, and any emergency button hardware already in the door.
2) Can a Corbin Russwin 483F80 lever be used in place of a Sargent 10-0513 L lever?
No. The Sargent 10-0513 is an L Lever replacement trim made for Sargent 7 Line and 10 Line cylinder lock series and configured for the Emergency Button 65 Option, so it seats on Sargent trim and spindle prep. The Corbin Russwin 483F80 is an outside lever and spindle for the ML2000 Series mortise lock, sized for a 1-3/4 inch thick door. They belong to different lock platforms and the lever bodies are not interchangeable, so match the lever to the lock series already in the door.
3) What is the handicap warning feature on this Sargent lever?
It is a tactile and visual indication built into the lever trim, used on accessible entryways and emergency egress doors so the opening is identifiable by touch as well as sight. That is the whole point of the 10-0513 versus a plain L lever.
4) Can I order the Sargent 10-0513 lever in a finish other than satin chrome?
One finish is offered: 26D, satin chromium plated over nickel. If the rest of your door hardware suite is brass or oil-rubbed bronze, this lever will not match.
5) Will the 10-0513 work if my Sargent lock does not have the emergency button option?
This lever is configured specifically for the Emergency Button 65 Option on 7 Line and 10 Line locks. On a 7 or 10 Line lock without that option, order the standard L lever trim for your function instead rather than this warning version.
6) Is there an equivalent with a handicap warning feature on the Corbin Russwin side?
The Sargent 10-0513 is the part to specify when you need an L Lever with an integrated handicap warning indicator for accessible and emergency egress doors on Sargent 7 Line and 10 Line locks. The Corbin Russwin 483F80 is a plain LW outside lever and spindle for ML2000 Series mortise locks in a Corridor/Dormitory function, so for the tactile warning lever, stay with the Sargent 10-0513.
7) What is the difference between ordering a lever trim like the Sargent 10-0513 and a lever-and-spindle assembly?
The Sargent 10-0513 is the L Lever trim piece itself, supplied in 26D satin chromium plated over nickel, for Sargent 7 Line and 10 Line locks with the Emergency Button 65 Option. The Corbin Russwin 483F80 is sold as an outside lever together with its spindle for the ML2000 Series, so the drive spindle comes in the box. Confirm whether your repair needs only the lever or the spindle as well before you order.
8) Is this lever suitable for a school or hospital corridor door, or is it a residential part?
It is a commercial-grade part. Sargent lists the 10-0513 for commercial use in offices, healthcare and medical facilities, schools and campus buildings, government buildings, retail, industrial and warehouse space, and multi-tenant residential or hospitality properties. High-traffic door applications are what the L lever profile is used for.
