Sargent 125P3 EP – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the Sargent 125P3 EP parallel arm foot used for?
It's the foot component that mounts a Sargent door closer's parallel arm to the door or frame, holding the correct arm geometry so the closer operates the way it should. It's sold as a replacement or new-install accessory for Sargent closers, not as a complete arm or closer body.
2) Will the Sargent 125P3 EP work on a regular arm or top jamb closer installation?
No. The 125P3 EP is built specifically for parallel arm mounting, where the closer arm folds back against the door face and the foot lands on the frame soffit. A regular arm or top jamb installation uses different arm hardware, so this foot won't apply.
3) Is the Sargent 125P3 EP a commercial-duty part or is it meant for residential doors?
Commercial. Sargent lists the 125P3 EP as a commercial-grade closer part, and it's the kind of piece that gets replaced on high-traffic openings in offices, schools, hospitals, retail and government buildings. On a house door with a light residential closer, it isn't the right part.
4) I'm a property manager replacing broken closer hardware across a building. Can I just order the 125P3 EP foot instead of a whole closer?
Yes, if what failed is the parallel arm foot itself. It's stocked as a standalone service part, so a technician can swap the foot and reuse the existing Sargent closer body and arm. If the closer body is leaking oil or the arm is bent, the foot alone won't fix the opening.
5) Is the 125P3 EP a genuine Sargent part or an aftermarket copy?
Genuine Sargent, model 125P3 EP, made to the same commercial standards as the closers it fits. That matters on a parallel arm foot because the mounting hole pattern and arm pivot have to line up with the Sargent arm you already have.
