Sargent 63-3719 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What closers does the Sargent 63-3719 body assembly fit?
The 63-3719 is a body assembly built for the Sargent 2900 Series door closer only. It is a genuine Sargent part matched to existing 2900 Series hardware, so no modification is needed on a 2900 closer. If your closer is a different Sargent series or another brand, this body will not fit it.
2) Can I rebuild a Sargent 2900 closer instead of replacing the whole unit?
That is what the 63-3719 body assembly is for. Swapping the body lets a technician restore a 2900 Series closer to full function without pulling and replacing the complete closer, which keeps the existing mounting and arm in place and shortens the downtime on the opening.
3) Is the 63-3719 a genuine Sargent part or an aftermarket copy?
It is a genuine OEM part, manufactured by Sargent as the authorized replacement body assembly for the 2900 Series, so it holds the original performance specifications for that platform. For property managers standardized on Sargent closers, that keeps the serviced units consistent with the rest of the building.
4) Does the 63-3719 include the closer arm and mounting hardware?
The 63-3719 is the body assembly for a Sargent 2900 Series closer, which is the closer housing itself. Arms, brackets and mounting hardware are separate 2900 Series parts and are ordered on their own, so check which components on the failed closer you actually need before you order.
5) Is this Sargent door closer part rated for commercial traffic or is it residential?
Commercial. The 63-3719 body assembly is a commercial-grade component intended for high-use openings, and it is the part specified for service work in offices, schools, healthcare buildings, retail, warehouses, multi-tenant residential and government facilities.
