1) Will the Sargent 10-6300 Signature core fit my existing mortise cylinder?
The 10-6300 Signature LFIC removable core works in 10-63-40 series mortise cylinders in sizes 42, 43, 44 and 46, which covers mortise cylinder lengths from 1-1/4 inch up to 1-3/4 inch. It also drops into 10-63-34 rim cylinders. If your mortise housing is outside that 1-1/4 to 1-3/4 inch range, this core is not the one for that opening.
2) Can the 6300 cam be removed or swapped on a Sargent 10-6300 core?
No. The 6300 cam on the Signature LFIC core is installed at the factory and is not removable. That means the cam is a purchasing decision, not a field adjustment: if the lock needs a different cam, you order a core built with that cam rather than changing it on the bench.
3) What do I have to specify when ordering a Sargent Signature LFIC core so I get the right cam?
If the standard cam suits the lock, no suffix is needed. If the application calls for the 63-44-105 cam, add it as a suffix to the order. Keying is a required choice as well: standard keying, KD keyed different, or KA keyed alike. Finish is the third choice, and it runs across twelve options.
4) I manage a building with Sargent T-Zone locks. Will these cores work in them?
Yes. The Signature LFIC core is compatible with 10-63-11 line T-Zone locks, and with 10-63-10 and 10-63-7 line locks. So one core type covers T-Zone openings alongside the bored and cylindrical lock lines in the same building, which is what you want if you are standardizing key control across a fleet of doors.
5) Is the Sargent 10-6300 a complete cylinder or just the core?
It is the core only, a removable Signature LFIC core with the 6300 cam already on it. It is a replacement part that goes into a cylinder housing or lock you already have, so it does not include the rim or mortise cylinder shell. If the housing itself is missing or wrong, you need the 10-63-34 rim cylinder or the matching 10-63-40 series mortise cylinder as well.
6) Why choose a large format interchangeable core instead of a fixed cylinder?
With the LFIC design you pull the core with a control key and drop a new one in without taking the lock apart. On a fixed cylinder, rekeying means disassembly or a cylinder swap.
