Sargent TR-8265 EE BSP – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Sargent TR-8265 EE trim pack work on any mortise lock, or only the 8200 Series?
Only the Sargent 8200 Series mortise lock. The TR-8265 EE is a factory trim pack built as a component for that platform, so the rose and lever mounting match the 8200 body. It will not mount correctly on another manufacturer's mortise case or on a Sargent mortise lock outside the 8200 family.
2) Does the TR-8265 EE trim need a cylinder or keys?
No cylinder and no keying. The TR-8265 EE is a non-keyed privacy trim for the bedroom or bath (latch) function, so there is nothing to key and no cylinder to buy separately. If the opening needs key access, this is the wrong trim pack for it.
3) What comes in the Sargent TR-8265 EE trim pack?
Matched trim for both sides of the opening: Sargent E Rose and E Lever in a Black Painted finish, packaged together for the 8200 Series lock. It is trim only, so the 8200 mortise lock body is ordered separately.
4) What is the difference between the Sargent TR-8265 EE trim pack and the Corbin Russwin 483F80 lever and spindle?
They serve different lock platforms and different functions. The Sargent TR-8265 EE is a factory trim pack for the Sargent 8200 Series mortise lock, supplied as matched E Rose and E Lever components configured for the Privacy Bedroom or Bath (latch) function, non-keyed, in a Black Painted finish. The Corbin Russwin 483F80 is a Grade 1 outside lever and spindle for the ML2000 Series with a Corridor/Dormitory function, sized for a 1-3/4 inch thick door. So the TR-8265 EE gives you a complete privacy trim set for an 8200 body, while the 483F80 is an outside-side lever and spindle for an ML2000 body on a keyed corridor opening.
5) Is a privacy mortise trim like this right for a commercial restroom door?
Yes, that is the intended use. The privacy latch function locks from the inside with no key outside, which is what restrooms, patient rooms, hotel guest rooms, fitting rooms and private offices call for. For corridor or dormitory openings where the outside must be keyed, you need a keyed function trim instead, such as the Corbin Russwin 483F80 lever and spindle set built for the corridor/dormitory function on the ML2000 Series.
6) Will the black painted finish match other Sargent trim already on my doors?
The E Rose and E Lever here are supplied in Black Painted finish. If the rest of your openings run a plated finish such as satin chrome or oil rubbed bronze, this pack will not match them; order the same E rose and E lever design in the finish your building standard uses.
7) Can I use this Sargent trim pack on residential interior doors?
It is classified as commercial hardware and is built to Sargent's commercial standards as part of the 8200 Series program. Physically it only goes on an 8200 Series mortise lock, which is a commercial mortise prep, so it is not a drop-in for a residential bored-lock door.
