Satco Lighting 80-945 – Frequently Asked Questions

    1) What size recessed downlight does the Satco 80-945 mounting plate fit?
The Satco 80-945 new construction mounting plate is made for 8-inch recessed downlights, and it accepts a hole diameter up to 8.125 inches. If your fixture's cutout runs larger than 8.125 inches, this plate won't work for it.
    2) Can the Satco 80-945 plate be used in a suspended ceiling grid, or only in a framed ceiling?
Both. The 80-945 ships with hanger bars that let you mount it to T-grid in a suspended acoustic ceiling or span it between studs or joists in a framed drywall ceiling. That covers the two common new construction situations for an 8-inch downlight.
    3) Can I use the Satco 80-945 to retrofit a downlight into an existing finished ceiling?
No. The 80-945 is a new construction plate, which means it goes in before the ceiling is closed up, while the joists or the open grid are still accessible. For a downlight going into an already finished ceiling you want a remodel or retrofit style housing or a spring clip trim instead.
    4) Do I get the hanger bars with the Satco 80-945, or do I have to order them separately?
Hanger bars are part of the 80-945 assembly, not a separate line item. You order the plate and the bars come with it.
    5) Is the Satco 80-945 a light fixture or just the mounting hardware?
It's mounting hardware only. The 80-945 is the plate and hanger bar assembly that carries an 8-inch recessed downlight in new construction; the downlight itself, the trim, and the driver are all bought separately.
    6) Is there more than one finish or version of the Satco 80-945 to choose from?
There's one configuration, ordered as Satco part 80-945. No finish or size choice to specify, since the plate sits above the ceiling line and is not a visible trim component.
How fast can I get the Satco Lighting 80-945 delivered?
