Satco Lighting S39926 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can I drop the Satco S39926 T8 LED into my existing fluorescent fixture without touching the wiring?
No. The S39926 is a Type B ballast bypass lamp, which means the fluorescent ballast has to be removed and line voltage wired direct to the sockets. It accepts either single-ended or double-ended wiring, so it works with either rewire method. If you want a lamp that runs on the existing ballast with no rewire, you need a Type A plug-and-play tube instead.
2) Does this Satco T8 LED tube run on 277V for a commercial building?
It is rated 120V to 277V at 50/60Hz, so the same lamp covers 120V residential circuits and 277V commercial lighting branch circuits. Current draw runs 0.100 to 0.0433A across that voltage range.
3) Will this 3000K tube match the other LED tubes already in my building?
Only if your existing tubes are also 3000K. The S39926 is a fixed 3000K warm white with a CRI of 82, and it is not CCT selectable, so there is no switch to dial it to 3500K or 4000K. Most commercial offices and warehouses were relamped at 4000K or 5000K, so check what is in the fixture before mixing, otherwise you will see the color shift down the run.
4) How much light does the 12W S39926 put out compared to the 3ft fluorescent it replaces?
1400 lumens from 12 watts, with Satco rating it as a 50W incandescent equivalent. Rated life is 50,000 hours, so in a space running 12 hours a day you are looking at years between relamps, which is the main reason facilities teams standardize on these for corridors and back-of-house.
5) Can this Satco T8 LED be used in a covered exterior walkway or a parking garage fixture?
It carries a damp location rating and Satco lists it for indoor and outdoor use, which covers covered walkways, canopies, and garage fixtures where the lamp is shielded from direct rain. It is not a wet location lamp, so anything with direct water exposure needs a different rating.
6) Will this LED tube work on a dimmer or a three-way circuit?
No. The S39926 is not a three-way lamp, and as a ballast bypass tube it is wired straight to line voltage. Put it on a standard switched circuit. If you need dimming in the space, specify a dimmable driver-based fixture rather than this lamp.
7) Can I mount this T8 LED vertically or in an angled fixture?
Yes, the burning position is universal, so it can be run horizontal, vertical, or at any angle without affecting rated life. The 210 degree beam spread means the light is thrown well past a flat 180, so rotating the tube in the socket to aim the output is not critical.
8) Is the Satco S39926 a glass tube or plastic?
Glass, with a gloss white lens finish that diffuses the LEDs so you do not see individual diodes through the cover. Handle and pack it like a fluorescent tube rather than a shatter-resistant plastic sleeve.
