Satco Lighting S8036 – Frequently Asked Questions

    1) Can the Satco S8036 LED string light be hung outdoors year round?
The S8036 24-foot string light is rated for wet locations and carries an IP44 rating, so it can be mounted outdoors on a patio, courtyard, or breezeway as well as indoors. IP44 covers splashing water from any direction, which is rain and washdown, not submersion. The base material is PVC.
    2) Will the Satco S8036 string light work on a dimmer switch?
No. The S8036 is not dimmable, so putting it on a dimmed circuit or a dimming plug is the wrong application. Run it on a plain switched receptacle or a timer. Output is fixed at 2200K, a warm amber vintage tone, at 100 lumens per lamp.
    3) Do I need an electrician to install the Satco S8036, or does it just plug in?
It plugs in. Mounting is plug-in and hook, so the string hangs from hooks or a catenary wire and terminates in a standard 120V cord cap. No junction box, no hardwiring, no permit trade work. That also means it is a portable fixture, not a permanently wired one, so a property manager can take it down seasonally.
    4) Is the Satco S8036 string light listed for commercial use in a hotel or restaurant patio?
The S8036 is cETLus Listed, meaning it carries the ETL listing for both US and Canadian requirements, and it is FCC compliant and RoHS compliant. Combined with the wet location rating that covers it for exterior commercial hospitality use. It is a portable, cord-connected fixture, so check your local rules on permanent use of portable equipment.
    5) Does the Satco S8036 come with bulbs or do I order them separately?
All 12 vintage ST19 LED lamps ship with the string, so there is nothing else to buy to get it lit besides a receptacle within reach. The lamps are LED, not filament incandescent, despite the vintage look, which is why the whole 24-foot set draws 24 watts.
    6) Can I change the color temperature or wattage on the Satco S8036 string light?
No. Color temperature is fixed at 2200K and wattage is fixed, with no CCT selectable or wattage selectable switch on the product. If you are standardizing several outdoor areas across a property, every S8036 will land at the same amber 2200K, which is the point of specifying it fleet-wide.
    7) What finish does the Satco S8036 string light cord come in?
Black is the only cord finish offered on the S8036, under part number S8036. The bulbs themselves are ST19 shape at 2.28 inches diameter, so the visual is a black PVC cord with amber vintage-style globes.
