Schaub 177-N Martello Rustic Cabinet Pull, 6-5/16" Center-to-Center, 8-3/8" Overall Length

The Schaub 177-N Martello cabinet pull brings rustic, hand-finished character to kitchen and bath cabinetry with a 6-5/16" (160 mm) center-to-center hole spacing and an 8-3/8" overall length. Finished in a Natural, unlacquered living finish that ages gracefully over time, this pull is built from Britannium base material with a square-end silhouette true to the Martello collection. A 1-3/8" projection and 1/2" base dimension keep the pull comfortably clear of the cabinet surface while maintaining a substantial, tactile grip.

Schaub 177-N – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Is the Natural finish on the Schaub 177-N lacquered, and will it change color?
It is unlacquered. The Natural (N) finish is a living finish, so it darkens and patinas with handling and time, and no two pulls end up identical. That is the intended look for the Rustic Martello line. If you want a finish that stays exactly as delivered, this is the wrong pull.
2) Is a 6-5/16 inch pull too long for standard drawers?
At 8-3/8 inches overall it suits wide drawers, appliance panels, and tall pantry or full-height doors. On a narrow 12 inch drawer it will look oversized and may not physically clear the box sides. For smaller drawer fronts, a shorter center-to-center pull is the right call, such as the Trimco 562 series at 3-1/2 inch, 4 inch, or 96 mm, or the Trimco 553 at 3 inch.
3) What screws does the Schaub Martello 177-N pull take?
It uses M4 x 1 machine screws, the standard metric cabinet hardware thread. If you are replacing pulls that used 8-32 screws, the old screws will not thread into this pull, so use the metric screws sized to your door or drawer front thickness.
4) How much hand clearance does this Martello pull give off the cabinet face?
Projection is 1-3/8 inches from the cabinet face, with a 1/2 inch base dimension where it meets the door. That is a deep grip, comfortable for a full hand on a heavy drawer or a tall pantry door, but it also means the pull sits well proud of the face. Worth checking on drawers next to a door swing or in a tight galley run.
5) What is Britannium and how does it hold up on kitchen cabinetry?
Britannium is the base material Schaub uses for the Martello line, a tin-based alloy that takes hand finishing well and is what gives these pulls their weight and rustic surface character. It holds up to daily kitchen and vanity use. It is not solid brass, so if a spec calls specifically for forged brass you would be looking at something like the Omnia 1968 or 1969 series instead.
6) We want a modern square look instead of rustic. What else is there?
The Martello 177-N is a hand-finished rustic square-end pull, so the surface is intentionally irregular. For a clean modern square bar, the Deltana SBP35 is a heavy-duty solid brass square bar pull at 3-1/2 inch, and Omnia's 1968, 1970 and 1971 series are forged solid brass modern pulls. The Orca CK-12001 T-pull bar in steel with a satin nickel finish is another contemporary option.
7) Can I match the Schaub Martello look across a kitchen using Emtek hardware?
Yes. Emtek carries the Schaub collection under its SELECT program, so the Emtek 8405 Select cabinet pulls and the Emtek Alexander, Art Deco, and Bar cabinet pulls are all Schaub-collection cabinet knob/pull lines. The 177-N itself is from the Martello collection with a square-end rustic profile, so the Emtek Schaub-collection pulls give you a way to run a consistent maker across knobs and pulls even where the styling differs from Martello.
8) I need more knuckle clearance than the Schaub 177-N gives. What projects further?
The Schaub 177-N stands 1-3/8 inch off the cabinet face. Among comparable modern pulls, the Omnia 1970 carries a 1-1/4 inch projection and the Omnia 1969 and 1971 are each 1-3/16 inch, all in forged solid brass, so the 177-N already sits further off the face than those three. If a taller grip is the priority on appliance or deep drawer fronts, the 177-N's 1-3/8 inch projection with a 1/2 inch base is the deeper of this group.
9) For a commercial or high-traffic install, is there a steel pull instead of the Britannium Schaub 177-N?
The Schaub 177-N is Britannium with an unlacquered Natural living finish that patinas over time, which suits residential kitchens, baths, and custom millwork. Where a uniform, non-changing finish matters, the Orca Hardware CK-12001 T-pull bar is steel in satin nickel with a 2 inch bar width, and the Deltana SBP35 is a heavy-duty solid brass square bar pull.
10) I need matching hardware across a whole kitchen. Does the Martello collection cover knobs and smaller pulls too?
The 177-N is one size in the Martello collection, which shares a square-end rustic design language across the range, so pulls in other center-to-center sizes carry the same profile and Natural finish for drawer banks and doors. Emtek also sells Schaub Collection cabinet hardware, including the Emtek 8405 Select pulls and the Alexander and Art Deco series, if you want a coordinated but different profile elsewhere in the room.
