Schaub 756-ALP – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What finishes does the Schaub 756 Versailles backplate come in?
Three finishes are offered on the 756: Oil Rubbed Bronze (ORB), Satin Nickel (SN), and Antique Light Polish (ALP). If you are matching a kitchen already fitted with Schaub Versailles knobs or pulls, order the plate in the same finish code so the solid brass base takes the finish consistently across the run.
2) Do I need a backplate at all, or should I just mount the knob directly to the cabinet door?
A backplate like the Schaub 756 is optional trim. Use it when you want to add visual weight under a small knob, protect the door face from knuckle wear, or conceal an existing hole or worn spot. It sits 1/8 inch proud of the door and carries the Versailles pattern in the Symphony Elegance style, so it is also how you tie plain knobs into a decorative program. If the door face is new and clean and you want a minimal look, skip it and mount the knob direct.
3) Is the Schaub 756 backplate solid brass or plated zinc?
Solid brass is the base material on the 756, not zinc die cast. For a property manager or hospitality buyer specifying cabinet hardware that gets handled constantly, brass holds up better to cleaning chemicals and hand oils than plated pot metal, and it will not flake at the edges of the plate where fingers catch it.
