The lip is what takes the punishment on a busy opening, with the latch riding across it every single cycle, so the substrate is the spec that decides whether the strike is still flat in five years. Stainless also holds up better than plated steel at an exterior or damp opening, where a plated strike starts rusting at the lip edge first.

No handing to call out. Finish is the only thing you choose on the 10-087, so the order is the part number plus one of 605, 612, 613, or 626. Handing is settled by the lock and the frame prep, not by the strike.

Not as a like-for-like swap. The 10-087 is a commercial part built around the ANSI strike footprint, which is a 4-7/8 inch face with a box pocket behind it. A typical residential jamb is prepped for a short square-corner strike, so fitting this one means cutting the jamb out to the larger face and deepening the mortise for the box. In a wood jamb that is workable if you are upgrading the opening deliberately. If you just want to replace a worn strike on a residential lock, this is the wrong part.
