Schlage Electronics CO-100-993R-40-KP-RHO-626-P – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the Schlage CO-100 and what applications is it designed for?
The Schlage CO-100 is a standalone electronic rim/concealed exit device trim with privacy function and keypad reader. It's designed for commercial applications requiring secure exit control without networking. Ideal for back doors, emergency exits, and areas needing temporary lockout capability.
2) Is this compatible with existing exit devices or does it require specific hardware?
The CO-100 is designed as trim that works with compatible Schlage exit devices. Verify your existing exit device model supports electronic trim before ordering. Some installations may require additional mounting hardware or exit device replacement.
3) How does the privacy function work on this device?
Privacy function allows temporary lockout from the secure side. When activated, the device prevents entry even with valid codes until privacy mode is deactivated. Exit capability remains functional per fire code requirements.
4) What door handing options are available?
Available in left-hand and right-hand configurations. Handing is determined from the secure side of the door. Verify proper handing before installation as electronic components may not be field-reversible.
5) What finish options does Schlage offer for the CO-100?
Standard finishes include satin chrome, dark bronze, and bright brass. Consult with your supplier for specialty finishes or custom color matching requirements for specific projects.
6) What power source does this unit require?
Typically operates on 6AA batteries housed in the interior trim. Battery life varies with usage frequency. Low battery indicators alert users when replacement is needed. Some installations may support optional hardwired power.
7) How many user codes can be programmed?
Programming capacity varies by model configuration. Most CO-100 units support multiple user codes plus master codes. Refer to programming manual for exact capacity and code length requirements.
8) What are the basic installation requirements?
Requires compatible exit device mounting. Door thickness, material, and frame type affect installation. Follow manufacturer template exactly. Verify door weight capacity and opening force compliance with ADA requirements.
9) How do you maintain and adjust the CO-100?
Regular maintenance includes battery replacement, keypad cleaning, and mechanical adjustment verification. Lubricate moving parts per schedule. Test emergency exit function monthly. Keep programming codes secure and update regularly.
10) Are there related Schlage models or alternatives?
Schlage offers various electronic exit device trims including networked versions and different authentication methods. Consider CO series alternatives based on connectivity requirements and security level needs.
11) What field conditions affect performance?
Extreme temperatures affect battery life and electronic function. High-humidity or corrosive environments may require protective measures. Verify environmental ratings match installation conditions before proceeding.
12) What are the critical measurements needed for installation?
Measure door thickness, stile width, and frame dimensions. Verify clearances for trim operation and emergency egress requirements. Check backset dimensions and ensure adequate space for internal components and battery compartment.
