Schlage Electronics CO-100 Standalone Electronic Rim/Concealed Exit Device Trim, Classroom/Storeroom Function, Keypad Reader

The CO-100 993R trim is built for rim and concealed vertical rod exit devices, and Schlage lists it as compatible with Von Duprin 98/99 and 22 Series, Falcon 25, Yale 7100, and Dorma 9300 rim devices. That covers most of what you find already hung on commercial openings, so in a lot of cases you keep the device on the door and swap only the outside trim to get keypad access.

Handing is a required selection, but the trim is field reversible, so a Field Reversible unit can be set for right or left hand in the field rather than sitting on the shelf as the wrong hand. You can also order it specified as RH, LH, RHR, or LHR if you want it set from the factory.

No cylinder is included, so you order it separately. Prep is your choice: B for small format interchangeable core less core, J for Schlage full size interchangeable core less core, L for less cylinder entirely, or P for a Schlage standard conventional cylinder. Mechanical key override is standard on the CO-100 and works with Schlage cylinders and other popular brands, so you can pull the trim onto an existing master key system instead of starting a new one.

Grade 1 and heavy duty. Certifications listed are ANSI/BHMA A156.25 full outdoor (70 function), ANSI/BHMA Grade 1, UL 294, UL 10C, UL Canada, FCC Part 15, and ADA. Exit trim also meets or exceeds ANSI/BHMA A156.3. The full outdoor rating is what lets you put it on a pool gate or breezeway rather than only interior openings.

The 993R is trim only. It mounts to a rim or concealed vertical rod exit device, which is a separate purchase if the door does not already have one. You will also need a cylinder for the key override, since none is included. If the opening is bare, a Grade 1 rim device such as the Stanley QED111EDX covers the device side, and that one is available with hex dogging, electric dogging, and request-to-exit.

They sit on opposite sides of the same opening. The Stanley QED111EDX is the exit device itself - a Grade 1 heavy-duty rim exit device with hex dogging, electric dogging and request-to-exit, so it is what you order when the panic bar on the door is being replaced. The Schlage CO-100 993R is exit device trim, the outside pull side that mounts to a rim or concealed vertical rod device and adds the keypad. If the bar in the door is staying, the CO-100 993R is the part; if the bar is going, the QED111EDX replaces the bar and you still need outside trim to go with it.

A dummy exit trim covers that. The Stanley QET120 is Grade 1 heavy-duty exit trim with a dummy lever, ANSI function 02 - the lever is fixed and does not retract the latch, so the outside is pull-only and entry is by the door being dogged or opened from inside. The Schlage CO-100 993R is classroom/storeroom function with a keypad reader and manages up to 500 three to six digit PIN codes, so it is what you specify when someone has to be able to get in from the outside on a credential. Openings like stair returns and exit-only service doors take the dummy trim; supply closets, equipment rooms and pool gates take the keypad trim.

The outside lever stays locked and a valid PIN or the key override unlocks it for entry; the inside is always free egress off the exit device. It is the function you want on supply closets, equipment rooms, maintenance areas, pool gates and breezeways, where you want the door secure all the time and access granted by code rather than left latched open.

Up to 500 unique PIN codes, 3 to 6 digits each, stored on the lock itself. Programming is done manually at the keypad by an administrator level user, so adding or revoking a code is done standing at the door with no software, no wiring, and no head end. That is the tradeoff with a standalone unit: nothing to network, but also no central audit or remote lockdown.

Four AA batteries, with up to two years of life and a status indicator so you get warning before it goes flat. No power run to the door and no transformer, which is why it works on gates and breezeways where pulling wire is not practical.

The standard strike shipped for the CO Series is an ANSI strike with a 1-3/16 inch lip, no box, and the standard latch is a 1-1/8 by 2-1/4 inch square corner deadlatch on a 2-3/4 inch backset. If your frame is already prepped for a standard ANSI strike on a 2-3/4 backset you are in the same footprint. Note that on a rim or concealed vertical rod exit device application the device itself does the latching, so what matters more is which exit device is on the door.

Six lever styles, Athens, Latitude, Longitude, Rhodes, Sparta, and Tubular, in seven finishes: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 612 satin bronze, 619 satin nickel, 625 bright chrome, 626 satin chrome, and 643E aged bronze. That is enough to suite the electronic openings to the mechanical Schlage hardware already on your other doors so a corridor does not read as mismatched.

If there is no access control requirement, an electronic trim is more lock than the opening needs. Stanley Security's QET120 is a Grade 1 heavy duty exit trim with a dummy lever, ANSI function 02, and the QRT320 is a Grade 1 round rose dummy lever exit trim. Both give you a pull on the outside with no credential and no batteries. Go to the CO-100 only when you actually want PIN code entry.

Not this one. The 993R is the rim and concealed exit device trim chassis. The CO-100 platform does offer cylindrical and mortise chassis versions, so if your door is a standard bored or mortise prep rather than an exit device, order the matching chassis rather than trying to make the exit trim fit.

No - both Stanley parts are dummy lever trim. The QET120 is Grade 1 exit trim with a dummy lever on ANSI function 02, and the QRT320 is Grade 1 round rose exit trim, also dummy lever trim. Neither one retracts a latch or carries a cylinder. The Schlage CO-100 993R is a battery-operated electronic trim running on four AA batteries with a keypad reader, and it takes a mechanical key override cylinder ordered separately in SFIC prep, Schlage FSIC prep, Schlage standard conventional, or less cylinder. A crew told to match the existing trim on a door that currently has keypad access will not get access back by hanging a dummy trim on it.

All of it is Grade 1, so the standard holds either way. The difference is what the opening does. The Stanley QED111EDX and QET120 are both listed for office, privacy and apartment function, which is the pattern for tenant doors and interior suites. The Schlage CO-100 993R is classroom/storeroom function, heavy duty, ADA compliant and certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.25 full outdoor along with UL 294 and UL 10C - the combination that covers perimeter and outdoor openings such as pool gates and breezeways as well as supply and equipment rooms. Mixing them within one facility standard is normal: office and privacy trim on the tenant side, classroom/storeroom keypad trim where the door must stay locked and open on a code.
