Schlage Residential 61076605 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will a Schlage F60 handleset work on a 2 inch thick door?
Not with the standard hardware it ships with. The F58/F60 Series handlesets and B60 deadbolts come prepped for normal door thicknesses, so on a door between 2 and 2-1/4 inches you need the Schlage 61-076 thick door extension kit. It swaps in longer tie bolts and a longer torque blade so the deadbolt actually throws and retracts properly through the extra material. Above 2-1/4 inches the kit is out of range.
2) What is in the Schlage 61-076 thick door pack?
It is a complete pack, not a single spare screw. The 61-076 includes the extended tie bolts and the longer torque blade that replace the standard-length parts in an F58/F60 handleset or B60 single cylinder deadbolt, so nothing else has to be ordered alongside it to make the deadbolt work on a 2 to 2-1/4 inch door.
3) I have a Schlage B60 deadbolt on a 2 inch door that will not turn smoothly. Is this the fix?
That is the exact symptom the 61-076 addresses. On a 2 to 2-1/4 inch door, the factory torque blade and tie bolts are too short to seat the deadbolt correctly, which shows up as a stiff or incomplete throw. The extension pack replaces both with the correct lengths for the thicker slab. It applies to single cylinder B60 deadbolts and F58/F60 handleset deadbolts.
4) Does the Schlage 61-076 extension kit come with a lock, or is it just hardware?
Hardware only. The 61-076 is a parts pack of tie bolts and a torque blade, no cylinder, no latch, no deadbolt body. You buy it in addition to an F58 or F60 handleset or a B60 deadbolt when the door is thicker than the standard prep allows.
5) What finish should I order the Schlage 61-076 thick door kit in?
Match it to the handleset. The kit comes in six finishes: 605 bright brass, 609 antique brass, 619 satin nickel, 622 matte black, 626 satin chrome, and 716 aged bronze. Most of what is in the pack ends up hidden inside the door, but ordering the matching finish keeps any exposed hardware consistent with the lock it is going into.
6) Will the Schlage 61-076 kit hold up on an exterior entry door?
The components are stainless steel, so corrosion resistance is there for a residential entry opening. That is the application it is built for: F58/F60 handlesets and B60 deadbolts on thick residential entry doors, including custom builds and retrofits where the slab is heavier than a standard door.
