1) Can I use a Schlage F40 privacy lever on a fire rated door?
UL Listing for 3-hour fire doors is available on the F40, but only on the CSV configuration, along with the F10, F51A and F80 functions. If the opening is rated, confirm the unit you are buying is the CSV build before it goes on the door.
2) Does the F40 privacy lever need to be ordered left or right handed?
The F40 Accent lever is non-handed, so one unit works on a left or right hand door. Nothing to specify on the order and nothing to swap in the field.
3) How does the privacy function work if someone locks themselves in the bathroom?
Push-button locking on the inside. From the corridor side it can be opened with a small circular tool pushed into the outside lever, which is the emergency release property managers and hotel staff rely on.
