1) Will a Schneider QOB GFCI breaker fit a plug-on QO load center, or do I need a bolt-on panel?
The QOB1xxGFI breakers are bolt-on, not plug-on. They mount with a screw to the bus in panelboards prepped for QOB bolt-on breakers. If your QO load center takes plug-on breakers, this one will not seat in it, and you want the plug-on QO GFCI version instead. Each breaker takes one pole space and is 0.75 in wide.
2) Is this a people-protection GFCI or an equipment-protection ground fault breaker?
6mA sensing, which is Class A personnel protection, the same trip threshold used for receptacle GFCIs. That is the level required where the NEC calls for GFCI protection of personnel, as opposed to 30mA equipment ground-fault protection used on heat tracing and similar loads.
3) Does this GFCI breaker need a neutral pigtail connection in the panel?
Yes. It is a pigtail-style GFCI breaker: the white lead lands on the panel neutral bar, and the circuit's own neutral terminates on the breaker, not the neutral bar. Keeping the load neutral off the bar is what lets the breaker sense imbalance. The line and load conductors use pressure plate terminals.
4) Is 10kA interrupting capacity enough for my commercial panel?
The QOB GFCI breaker is rated 10kA at 120VAC. That covers most lighting and receptacle panelboards fed well downstream of the service. If your available fault current at the panel exceeds 10kA per your short circuit study, you need a higher AIC breaker or series-rated combination, not this one.
5) Is the Schneider QO GFCI breaker TAA compliant for a federal or government job?
Yes, it carries TAA compliance, which is what a government, military or publicly funded procurement spec usually requires. Country of origin is Mexico, a TAA designated country.
6) Can I use a 120V 1-pole GFCI breaker on a 240V circuit like a water heater or spa?
No. This is a single pole device rated 120VAC only, and it occupies one space. A 240V load, or a 120/240V load such as a spa panel or electric water heater, needs a 2-pole GFCI breaker. The 30 A version here is for single-pole 120V loads only.
