Metallics JQK522V – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size is the Metallics JQK522V screw, and how many come in a jar?
The JQK522V is a #10 x 1-1/2 inch screw with a 5/16 inch indented hex washer head and a combination drive, so it can be driven with either a 5/16 hex driver or a screwdriver bit. It ships 500 pieces to a jar.
2) Can I drive the Metallics JQK522V with a nut driver instead of a bit?
Yes. The head is an indented hex washer with a 5/16 inch across-flats hex, so a 5/16 nut driver or socket seats on it. It is also a combination head, meaning the recess accepts a screwdriver bit if you cannot get a nut driver into the space.
3) Is a #10 x 1-1/2 hex washer head combo screw the right fastener for mounting electrical boxes and straps to wood?
That is the job this one is built for. The JQK522V is an electrical-trade fastener, and the 1-1/2 inch length under a washer head is the common choice for anchoring boxes, straps, and clamps to wood studs or blocking, where the washer head spreads load over the sheet-metal flange instead of pulling through it. For hollow drywall or masonry you need an anchor instead, not a wood-driven screw.
4) Is there more than one length or head style under Metallics part JQK522V?
No. JQK522V is one configuration only: #10 diameter, 1-1/2 inch length, 5/16 indented hex washer head, combination drive, 500 to the jar. If you need a different length or a plain Phillips pan head, that is a different Metallics part number.
5) Does the Metallics JQK522V come in bulk for a service van, or only small counts?
It comes as a 500-piece jar under a single part number, JQK522V. That is a stocking quantity for a van or a shop bin rather than a job-pack of a dozen, which is how electrical contractors and maintenance crews usually buy a standard mounting screw.
