Metallics JRBWS37 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What do the abbreviations in the Metallics JRBWS37 screw description mean?
JRBWS37 is a #12 x 2 inch round head, slotted drive wood screw in brass, packed 100 to a jar. RH is round head, SL is the slotted drive, WS is wood screw, BR is brass.
2) How many screws come in a jar of Metallics JRBWS37?
One hundred per jar. These ship in a jar rather than a box, which is the usual Metallics put-up for loose fasteners pulled a handful at a time off a van or a bench.
3) Do I need a special driver for these slotted brass screws?
A flat blade screwdriver sized to the slot is all the JRBWS37 takes, no Phillips or square drive. Brass is a soft alloy, so drive these by hand or on a low clutch setting and pilot drill hardwood first. An impact driver will round out the slot or snap the head.
4) What is the difference between a round head and a flat head wood screw for this kind of work?
The JRBWS37 is round head, so it seats on top of the surface and the dome stays proud. That suits mounting straps, clamps and plates where you are not countersinking. If you need the fastener flush with a wood surface, you want a flat head wood screw in a countersunk hole instead, not this one.
5) Is the Metallics JRBWS37 screw solid brass or brass plated?
The BR in the Metallics callout designates brass. Buyers choose a brass wood screw where appearance matters on exposed trim, cover plates and decorative hardware, or where they want to avoid the staining steel can leave in certain woods.
