1) Will the SDC 800 Series key switch work with my existing mortise cylinders and keyway?
The 800AL key switch assembly takes U.S. standard 1 inch and 1-3/8 inch mortise key cylinders, including interchangeable core cylinders, so you can key it into the same system as the rest of the building. The cylinder is not supplied with the switch; order it separately in the keyway you already run. The cylinder mounts recessed in the faceplate as part of the tamper resistant design.
2) What is the difference between the SDC 800AL and 800ALN key switch, and which one do I need?
Size is the choice. The 800ALN uses a narrow faceplate meant to go straight onto a door frame or a narrow stile, where there is no room for a gang box. The 800AL is single gang size and drops into a standard electrical box in the wall beside the opening. Same 1/4 inch thick aluminum faceplate and same switching either way, so pick on where the plate has to land.
3) Should I order a momentary or alternate action key switch for my mag lock?
Momentary (MO) breaks the circuit only while the key is turned and springs back, which is what you want for a timed release or a request to exit that re-secures itself. Alternate action (AA) latches in position, so the opening stays unlocked until someone returns and keys it back, which is the one for unlocking a door for the business day. The 800 Series offers both: 801 is AA SPDT, 802 is MO SPDT, 805 is AA DPDT and 806 is MO DPDT.

5) Will an SDC 800 key switch handle the current draw of my door strike or mag lock?
The contacts are rated 2 Amps at 30 VDC resistive. That is fine for switching a low voltage access control input, a relay coil, or a small DC device, but it is not a line voltage switch and it will not carry a heavy inductive load directly. If your lock pulls more than that, or runs on AC line voltage, switch a relay with the key switch and let the relay carry the lock. Three things do the work here. 11) Is there a key switch that shows whether the door is locked or unlocked?
The 800 Series can be ordered with an LED status indicator built into the faceplate.
