1) Will the Securitron AQD6 power supply run 24VDC maglocks and 12VDC strikes at the same time?
No. The AQD6 is a dual voltage unit, but the 12VDC or 24VDC setting is field selectable for the whole supply, not per output. Everything downstream runs at whichever voltage you select. If you have a mix of 12V strikes and 24V mags on one opening group, you need a second supply for the other voltage, or devices that accept both.
2) How many locks can a Securitron AQD6 run on 6 amps?
The AQD6 delivers 6 amps continuous at either 12VDC or 24VDC, and it can be distributed across up to 16 independently controlled power limited outputs. Budget by inrush and holding current of your devices, not by door count: a bank of 24V maglocks drawing roughly a half amp each fits comfortably, while motorized latch retraction devices with high inrush eat far more of that headroom.
3) Does the Securitron AQD6 have a fire alarm relay to drop the locks?
The AQD6 board itself is not supplied with a fire alarm relay. The AQD family is available with a single relay fire trigger or with individually triggered relayed outputs, so if your maglocks have to release on alarm, that has to come from the fire trigger option or a relayed distribution board ordered alongside the supply. Do not assume a plain AQD6 will drop power on an alarm input.
4) Should I order the Securitron AQD6 board only or with the enclosure?
Two ways to buy it. With Enclosure is the normal choice for a new install, where the supply mounts in its own cabinet with room for the standby batteries. Board Only is for a replacement inside a cabinet you already have on the wall, or for dropping into a larger access control enclosure where the board sits with other gear. If you are swapping a failed board out of an existing Securitron can, board only is the part you want.
5) Does the Securitron AQD6 charge backup batteries, or do I need a separate charger?
Battery charging is built in. The AQD6 has an integrated charging circuit and supports up to two sealed gel, AGM or wet lead acid batteries, so no external charger is needed for standby power. The charging circuit is designed to prevent overvoltage reaching the locking devices while it charges, which matters when the same supply feeds strikes or mags continuously.
6) Can I use a Securitron AQD6 to power delayed egress or motorized latch retraction exit devices?
Careful here. The AQD6 is a general purpose 12/24VDC access control supply with power limited outputs; it is not sold as a device specific controller. Delayed egress exit devices are normally fed from a supply built for them, such as the BEST PS161-6 at 120V input, 12/24V output, 6A capacity. Motorized latch retraction has an inrush profile that manufacturers usually pair with a dedicated unit like the BEST RPSMLR2. Use the AQD6 for strikes, maglocks and readers, and match the exit device manufacturer's specified supply for MLR and delayed egress.
7) What is the closest equivalent to the Securitron AQD6 power supply at 6 amps with 12 or 24 volt selection?
