1) What voltage do I order the Securitron RB-4 relay board in, and can one board run on both 12V and 24V?
The RB-4 comes as two separate boards: RB-4-12 for 12VDC and RB-4-24 for 24VDC. Pick the one that matches your access control power supply; the coil voltage is built into the board, so a single board does not cover both. Coil draw is 13 mA at 12 VDC and 8 mA at 24 VDC, which is low enough that four relays add little load to a typical access control supply.
2) How many relays are on the Securitron RB-4 board and what contact rating do they carry?
Four DPDT relays on one board, with 2 amp contacts. All the dry contact connections land on screw terminals, so you are not soldering or using relay sockets. Two amps per contact suits switching signal-level and small loads, shunting an alarm zone, or passing a status contact back to a panel; it is not a board for directly switching a large magnetic lock load.
3) Can I use the RB-4 to build a door interlock (mantrap) between two doors?
That is one of its intended uses. The RB-4 provides normally-open or normally-closed relays that can be interconnected, which is exactly what an interlock needs: one door's status contact inhibits the release of the other. With four DPDT relays on the board you have enough poles to cross-wire both directions and still have contacts left for status reporting.
4) What is the difference between the Securitron RB-4 relay board and the Aiphone RY-PA door release relay?
They solve different scopes of problem. The Securitron RB-4 is a multi-relay board that mounts four DPDT relays with 2 Amp dry contacts brought out on screw terminals, intended for interlock installations and for shunting, interlocking and reporting from an access control system, and it is ordered in either a 12VDC or a 24VDC version. The Aiphone RY-PA is a door release relay rated 12V DC with a normally open contact, built for use with the Aiphone LEF Series intercoms. If you need several interconnected contacts on one board, or a 24VDC coil, the RB-4 is the one that covers it; if you are simply adding door release to an LEF Series intercom, the RY-PA is the purpose-matched part.
5) My access control panel runs on 24VDC - which relay option works?
The Securitron RB-4 relay board is offered in a 24VDC version as well as a 12VDC version, and its relay coils draw 13 mA at 12 VDC and 8 mA at 24 VDC, so it can be driven from low-current access control outputs. The Aiphone RY-PA is a 12V DC door release relay, so it is not the choice for a 24VDC system. On a 24VDC panel, order the 24V version of the RB-4.
6) Do I get normally-open and normally-closed contacts, or do I have to pick one?
Both. Each relay is DPDT, so every relay gives you a normally-open and a normally-closed contact on each of its two poles. You choose which one you land on the screw terminal, which is why the same board works for shunting an alarm contact (usually N/C) and for triggering a release (usually N/O).

9) Can I wire the RB-4 coils to a common positive, or does it have to be common negative?
Either. The coil connections are individual, with a common negative or common positive arrangement, so the board drops into panels that switch the ground side and panels that switch the positive side without rewiring the logic around it.
