Impact drivers only. The 48-32-2391 SHOCKWAVE threaded rod nut runner is built around a SHOCKZONE shank that absorbs peak torque from impacting, and Milwaukee specifies it for use with impact drivers. Running it in a standard drill/driver is outside what it is rated for.
2) Do I have to pull the tool off the rod to adjust the nut height?
No. The nut runner has side access, so you can get at the nut for adjustments with the tool still on the rod. That matters when you are dialing in elevation on a trapeze after the run is up.
