Red Dot DBLB-2-C – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the Red Dot DBLB-2-C a complete LB conduit body or just the cover?
It is the cover for a 3/4 inch LB conduit body, not the body itself. If you need the elbow housing too, order the matching LB body separately and use this as the replacement or original cover plate.
2) Will the Red Dot DBLB-2-C cover fit EMT conduit runs?
Yes. The DBLB-2-C is part of Red Dot's Series B line made for use with EMT conduit, in the 3/4 inch trade size. It will not suit a rigid or IMC-threaded body of a different series.
3) What is the Red Dot DBLB-2-C cover made of, and will it hold up outdoors?
Die cast aluminum. That is the standard material for outdoor and damp-location conduit bodies on exposed EMT runs, and it will not rust the way a plated steel cover can. Pair it with the gasket the body calls for to keep water out.
4) Does an LB conduit body cover come with a gasket or screws?
The DBLB-2-C is supplied as the shrink-wrapped cover for a 3/4 inch LB body. Nothing beyond the cover itself is stated, so plan on reusing the existing cover screws and gasket or sourcing them with the body.
5) What is an LB conduit body used for on an EMT run?
An LB body gives you a 90 degree pull point where conduit comes out of a wall and turns down, and it opens up so you can pull conductors through instead of fighting a sweep. The cover, like the DBLB-2-C in 3/4 inch, is what closes it after the pull.
