Sioux Chief 553 Hang Tuff DWV Pipe Support Hanger, White Finish

The Sioux Chief 553 Hang Tuff Series DWV pipe hanger is a rough-in support fitting built to secure drain, waste, and vent (DWV) piping in residential and commercial plumbing systems. This Hang Tuff family is available in trade sizes from 1-1/2" through 4", letting plumbers standardize on one hanger line across an entire DWV pipe run instead of stocking a separate hanger for every diameter. Finished in white for a clean, professional appearance in exposed mechanical rooms and basements, it ships 25 per carton for efficient truck and jobsite stocking and is manufactured in the United States.

Key Features

  • Trade Size Range: Covers 1-1/2" through 4" DWV pipe, giving installers one hanger family for the most common drain, waste, and vent diameters on a job.
  • DWV Application: Purpose-built to support and suspend drain, waste, and vent piping runs behind walls, in ceilings, and under floors on new construction and remodel work.
  • Hang Tuff Series: Part of Sioux Chief's Hang Tuff pipe hanger line, engineered to hold DWV pipe runs stable and properly supported between fittings.
  • White Finish: Clean white finish for a neat appearance in exposed mechanical rooms, basements, and other areas where hangers remain visible after rough-in.
  • Bulk Packaging: Packed 25 per carton so plumbing contractors and distributors can stock and issue the hanger in job-ready quantities.
  • Made in the USA: Manufactured in the United States for consistent quality control and dependable availability for professional plumbers.

Sioux Chief 553-6W – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What pipe sizes does the Sioux Chief 553 Hang Tuff DWV hanger come in?
Four trade sizes cover the common DWV diameters: 1-1/2 inch (553-6W), 2 inch (553-7W), 3 inch (553-8W) and 4 inch (553-9W). The hanger is sized per pipe diameter, so order the part number matching the pipe you are supporting rather than expecting one hanger to adjust across sizes.
2) Is the Sioux Chief Hang Tuff 553 made in the USA for a Buy American job?
Country of origin on the 553 Hang Tuff hanger is the United States, which is the detail institutional and government procurement buyers usually need documented for domestic-sourcing requirements.
3) Can I standardize on one hanger line for a whole DWV rough-in instead of mixing brands and styles?
Yes. The Hang Tuff 553 family spans 1-1/2 inch through 4 inch, so a single hanger line covers the branch, waste and stack sizes on most residential and light commercial DWV runs. You still order by diameter, but ordering, training and jobsite sorting stay on one product family.
4) How many Sioux Chief 553 hangers come in a carton?
Packed 25 per carton. That is a practical quantity for stocking a service truck or staging a floor of rough-in, and it is how plumbing contractors and distributors issue them out.
5) Will the 553 hanger look acceptable in an exposed basement or mechanical room ceiling?
The 553 is finished in white, which is the reason it gets specified where the hangers stay visible after rough-in, such as exposed basement joists and mechanical room ceilings. No painting or covering is needed for appearance.
6) Is the 553 hanger suitable for retrofit work, or only new construction?
Both. The 553 is used for new construction rough-in and for renovation and retrofit plumbing, supporting DWV runs behind walls, in ceilings and under floors.
