Sioux Chief 861-GNR8F Round Floor Sink Grate and Frame, 8", Full Grate

The Sioux Chief 861-GNR8F is a round 8" full-grate floor sink top designed to pair with a floor sink body as part of a rough-in drainage assembly behind the wall or under the floor in commercial kitchens, wash-down areas, and other drain-intensive installations. The frame and grate carry a smooth, white porcelain enamel coating that resists acid attack from the waste and cleaning chemicals commonly found in food-service and industrial drain lines, and the assembly includes an aluminum dome bottom strainer to catch solids before they enter the waste line. Built by Sioux Chief for plumbing contractors, it is sized to mate with compatible 8" floor sink bodies on new construction or renovation jobs.

Sioux Chief 861-GNR8F – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Does the Sioux Chief 861-GNR8F include the floor sink body, or just the top?
Top only. The 861-GNR8F is the round 8 inch grate and frame, supplied with an aluminum dome bottom strainer, and it has to be paired with a compatible 8 inch floor sink body. If you are roughing in a new drain, order the sink body separately; if you are replacing a rusted or cracked top on an existing 8 inch floor sink, this is the part you want.
2) Can I use the Sioux Chief 861-GNR8F as a replacement grate on an existing 8 inch floor sink?
That is one of its intended uses. It fits compatible 8 inch floor sink bodies, so on a retrofit measure the existing sink opening and confirm it is an 8 inch round body before ordering. If the existing sink is square or a different trade size, the frame will not seat correctly.
3) What does "full grate" mean on an 8 inch floor sink top, and when would I want a half grate instead?
Full grate means the grate covers the entire sink opening, which gives you maximum open drainage area across the 8 inch top. That is what you want where the sink takes open floor runoff or wash-down water. A half grate top is the one to look at when an indirect waste line or a piece of equipment drain needs to sit over part of the opening with the remaining area left open. The 861-GNR8F is the full grate configuration.
4) Will a porcelain enamel floor sink grate hold up to commercial kitchen cleaning chemicals?
Yes. The grate and frame are cast iron with a white porcelain enamel coating that is acid resistant, which is the point of the finish on food-service drains: grease-cutters, degreasers and acidic food waste sit on that surface daily. The smooth enamel also wipes down rather than holding soil the way bare metal does.
5) Does the 861-GNR8F come with a strainer, or do I need to buy a separate dome basket?
An aluminum dome bottom strainer ships with the assembly, so there is nothing extra to add to catch solids. The dome sits below the grate and keeps food scraps and debris out of the waste line, which is what keeps a commercial kitchen branch from clogging between service calls.
6) Is the Sioux Chief 861-GNR8F grate cast iron or plastic?
Cast iron, with the porcelain enamel coating over it. That matters where carts, hand trucks or dollies roll across the sink in a kitchen or wash-down bay, since a cast iron frame takes point loading that a plastic top will not.
7) How many grates come in a pack of the Sioux Chief 861-GNR8F?
One each. The 861-GNR8F is sold as a single grate and frame assembly, so for a kitchen with several floor sinks you order one per opening.
8) What is the manufacturer part number for the Sioux Chief 8 inch round full grate floor sink top?
The part number is 861-GNR8F from Sioux Chief, a round 8 inch full grate and frame with porcelain enamel finish. That is the number to put on a submittal or a counter order.
