Both are Schedule 40 PVC reducer bushings with a spigot outside end, and the difference is the reduced end. The 437 series is Spigot x Socket, so the smaller side is a solvent-weld socket. The 438 series is Spigot x FPT, so the smaller side is female pipe thread for a threaded transition. Example: 437-249 is 2 x 1 inch Spigot x Socket, 438-249 is the same 2 x 1 inch in Spigot x FPT.
2) Does a spigot reducer bushing glue into a pipe or into a fitting?
