1) Will the Intermatic FF2H countdown timer work on a 277V commercial lighting circuit?
Yes. The FF2H is rated 125-277 VAC, 50/60 Hz, so it covers both 120V branch circuits and 277V commercial lighting loads off a 480/277 system. Same part either way, no separate voltage version to specify.
2) Does the FF2H spring wound timer fit a standard single-gang switch box?
It is built to drop into any standard single-gang wall switch opening. The unit measures 4.125 in high, 1.75 in wide and 1.25 in deep, so the body sits back in a normal single-gang box and the included brushed-metal look switch plate covers the opening.
3) Does a spring wound timer need a neutral wire to work?
No. The FF2H timing mechanism is spring wound and mechanical, so it needs no electricity to run the timer itself. That makes it a straight swap in older boxes where no neutral was pulled to the switch, and it keeps timing through a power interruption.
4) Can I use this timer on LED and fluorescent fixtures, or only incandescent?
All of them. The FF2H is a mechanical SPST switch, so it simply opens and closes the circuit at the end of the cycle. It is rated for incandescent, fluorescent, CFL and LED lighting, and also gets used for exhaust fans, ventilation and motor control.

6) How long can the FF2H run a load before it shuts off?
Two hours is the maximum setting. The dial can be wound to any interval up to that, and at the end of the cycle the SPST contact opens and kills the load. For restrooms, storage rooms and stairwells where two hours is longer than anyone needs, a shorter-max FF Series model keeps the run times tighter.
7) What makes wiring the FF2H faster than a standard switch swap?
It uses teeter-type terminals, so conductors land and clamp without fighting a screw head in a crowded box. Being SPST, it wires like any single-pole switch: line in, load out. It will not work as one of a pair in a 3-way arrangement.
8) Will this timer match the other switch plates in my building?
