1) Does the Stanley QET175 exit trim come with a cylinder?
No cylinder is included. The QET175 ships less cylinder, so you supply a conventional cylinder to match your existing keyway and keying system. That is the usual way exit trim is bought on a keyed facility, since it lets you pin it into the master key system you already run instead of adding a second key.
2) What does a night latch pull trim actually do on an exit device?
It is outside trim for a door already fitted with an exit device: a fixed pull with a key cylinder above it. Turning the key retracts the latch so you can pull the door open from the outside; with no key, the outside stays locked and the door is egress-only through the push bar inside. There is no lever and no thumbpiece on the pull configuration, so nothing on the outside operates without a key.
3) I need the outside of the door to open freely once it is unlocked, not key every time. Is this the right trim?
No. The night latch pull is key-retraction only, so someone has to use a key each time they come in from the outside. For an opening where staff need free access during business hours, you want lever trim on the exit device instead, or an electrified trim that can be released by a reader or a switch.
4) Is this a complete lock or does it need an exit device on the door already?
It is trim only. The QET175 mounts to the outside of a door that already has an exit device, and it is the outside pull and cylinder half of that assembly. It does not include the push bar, latch or strike, so on a new opening you order the exit device separately and add the trim, plus a cylinder.
5) What is the difference between the Stanley QET175 exit trim and the Schlage XE360EW22S?
The Stanley QET175 is a mechanical Grade 1 heavy-duty exit device trim supplied less cylinder, so it accepts a conventional cylinder and operates purely mechanically. The Schlage XE360EW22S is a Grade 1 wireless exit trim with a smart Bluetooth and NFC mobile reader and an interior pushbutton LED with indicator, built for the Von Duprin 22 SVR device. Choose the QET175 when the opening is keyed into an existing mechanical key system; choose the XE360EW22S when the opening needs credential-based access control and audit through a wireless head.
6) Is the Stanley QET175 trim heavy duty enough for a high traffic commercial entrance?
