The HO225 is an offset nipple, meaning the two threaded ends sit on parallel but non-aligned axes, stepped over by 3/4 inch. You use it where a raceway leaving an enclosure has to jog sideways to meet a knockout or a second box that is not in line, without cutting and bending a piece of conduit. Trade size is 1-1/2 inch.
2) Will the Steel City HO225 thread into rigid conduit and IMC?
Yes. It is made for RGD/IMC, so both ends carry standard rigid/IMC taper thread in 1-1/2 inch trade size and will mate with threaded rigid steel conduit, IMC, and 1-1/2 inch threaded hubs or locknut-and-bushing terminations. It is not a set-screw or compression fitting, so EMT needs a threaded adapter first.
3) Can I use the HO225 to join two enclosures whose knockouts don't line up?
That is the job it exists for. With a 3/4 inch offset between the two 1-1/2 inch threaded ends, it bridges two boxes or an enclosure and a wireway whose 1-1/2 inch knockouts are misaligned by about that much. If the misalignment is larger, or the boxes are spaced apart, you want a straight nipple plus conduit and elbows instead.
4) Do I need locknuts or bushings with a 1-1/2 inch offset nipple, or does it come complete?
Plan on supplying the terminations yourself. An offset nipple like the HO225 is the threaded body only; a knockout connection still needs locknuts inside and out and an insulating bushing or grounding locknut where the job calls for it. Order those 1-1/2 inch items alongside it.
