The STI-34098 is a single channel slave receiver that works alongside a control panel rather than on its own. It picks up the transmitter signal and closes a Form C relay, which lets you pass the alert through to another system (an existing alarm panel, annunciator, door release, or similar). If you need a standalone receiver that annunciates by itself, this is not that part; it is the relay link between an STI wireless setup and whatever equipment you want to trigger.

Rated at 1000 feet line of sight. That is an unobstructed figure, so walls, steel doors, and metal racking will cut it down in a real building. For long corridors or across a parking lot it is usually fine; through multiple interior partitions, plan on mounting the receiver closer to the transmitter.

It runs on 12 VDC, so you need a regulated 12 volt supply at the receiver location. Many access control and alarm panels already have a 12 VDC auxiliary output you can pull from, which is usually the simplest route since the receiver is being tied into that panel anyway.
