No. The Beacon & Sounder Damage Stopper guards are recommended for indoor use. The 9-gauge steel wire carries a corrosion-resistant polyester coating, which handles gym, warehouse and plant conditions, but the series is specified for interior openings. For an exterior beacon, use a guard rated for outdoor service instead.
2) What's the difference between the beacon cage and the sounder cage in the STI Damage Stopper line?
Both are ordered on the same series, split by Device Type (Beacon Cage or Sounder Cage) and by Size (Small, Medium or Large), six combinations in all. The choice comes down to the shape and projection of the device you're covering: beacons and strobes sit deeper off the wall than most flush sounders, so the beacon cages run the deeper profiles. Confirm the device projection against the depth figure for the model before you pick a size.
3) Does the STI Damage Stopper cage block the sound or light output of the device inside?
No. It's an open wire cage, not a solid cover, so the beacon stays visible and the sounder stays audible through the mesh. The guard exists to stop impact and tampering, not to enclose the device.
4) Do I need to buy separate anchors to install an STI beacon guard on block or drywall?
Screws and anchors ship with each guard, so no separate fastener kit is required for a standard wall mount. On structural concrete or steel you may still want fasteners suited to that substrate, but the base hardware is in the box.
