    Only on the horn versions. Those carry a piezo horn rated 95/105 dB that sounds when someone lifts the cover, which usually stops a false pull before it happens. The two no-horn builds are protection only, with no audible output.

    The housing measures 5.0 in wide and 6.2 in (158 mm) or 7.0 in (178 mm) high depending on build, with depth of 3.2 in or 5.2 in, the deeper figure being the spacer-mount version.     Not as packed. This 6-pack is built for large-scale indoor installations, and the covers ship without weather sealing. For an exterior or washdown location you need the gasket parts from the same family: the STI-3002 weather gasket, plus the STI-3003 conduit gasket or STI-3004 rigid conduit gasket depending on how your conduit enters. In freezing locations STI also offers the 6580 12-volt and 6583 24-volt heater kits.
    5) What is the Stopper II cover made of, and will it hold up in a high-traffic building?
    The shell is tough polycarbonate over a red horn housing. Polycarbonate is what lets these take knocks in corridors, gyms, dorms and back-of-house areas without cracking, and the whole point of the cover is stopping accidental activation, tampering and vandalism at the pull station.
    6) Can I replace a failed horn in an STI Stopper II cover instead of buying a new one?
    Yes, on the horn builds. The STI 1102 Stopper II replacement horn kit is the serviceable part, so a dead piezo on one cover does not mean replacing the whole housing. The no-horn builds have no horn to swap, and a horn cannot be retrofitted into them by ordering that kit alone.
    7) Does the clear spacer version change how deep the Stopper II sits off the wall?
    Yes. The spacer adds standoff, which is why the depth figures run 3.2 in for the flush build and 5.2 in for the spacer build. If the device is in a tight corridor or near a door swing, that two inches of extra projection is worth checking against your clearance before you commit the whole six-pack.
