    1) How many STI wireless chime transmitters can I run to one receiver?
    Up to 10 transmitters pair to a single STI Wireless Chime receiver. That is what makes the series work for a small building rather than one door: a doorbell push at the front, an Entry Alert sensor on a back door, and a motion sensor over a stockroom aisle can all report to the same plug-in receiver. Every STI transmitter and receiver in the series works together, so you can mix device types on one receiver instead of buying a separate system per opening.
    2) Will an STI wireless chime reach from my warehouse back door to the front counter?
    The STI Wireless Chime Series is rated up to 500 feet line of sight at 433 MHz. Line of sight is the operative phrase: that number assumes an unobstructed path, and block walls, steel racking, or metal doors between the transmitter and receiver cut into it. For a run that crosses interior walls or floors, the STI-3331 Extender is the piece in the series that carries the signal further.
    3) Do I need to run wire to install an STI wireless chime?
    No wiring is needed for the transmitters, which are battery-powered and mount in place. The receiver simply plugs into a 120 VAC indoor outlet. The one exception is the STI-3331 Extender, which does require wiring. For a property manager adding a back-door alert to a leased unit or a retailer who cannot open walls, that plug-in receiver plus battery transmitter is the whole install.
    4) What is the difference between the STI doorbell, Entry Alert, and motion chime?
    Three different triggers on the same wireless platform. The doorbell transmitter is a push button, so someone has to press it. The Entry Alert sensor watches a door or gate and reports when it is opened, which is what you want on a stockroom or a back exit nobody should be using unannounced. The motion-activated sensor fires when someone crosses its field, so it covers an open counter, a driveway, or an unattended aisle where there is no door to sense. All three pair to the same receiver, so you can run more than one type at once.
    5) What do I have to order to get a working STI wireless chime setup?
    Two pieces minimum: at least one transmitter and one receiver. The transmitter is the trigger you pick by application, an STI-3301 doorbell push button, an STI-3551 Entry Alert sensor, or an STI-3601 motion-activated sensor. The STI-3353 receiver is the plug-in unit that makes the sound. A transmitter on its own has nothing to ring, and a receiver on its own has nothing to report to it. From there add up to nine more transmitters to the same receiver.
    6) Will an STI Entry Alert sensor hold up on an exterior door?
    The transmitters in the series are weather-sealed and tamper-resistant, which is what lets an Entry Alert or doorbell push go on an exterior door, a gate, or an unheated dock rather than only in conditioned space. The receiver is the indoor half of the system, since it plugs into a 120 VAC indoor outlet.
    7) Can I add an STI motion sensor to a chime receiver I already have?
    Yes. Every transmitter and receiver in the STI Wireless Chime Series works together, so a motion-activated sensor pairs to a receiver already running a doorbell push or an Entry Alert. All of it runs on 433 MHz. You are adding to the existing receiver's transmitter count, which tops out at 10.
    8) Does the STI-3331 Extender install the same way as the rest of the chime series?
    No, and this is the one to watch on a bid. The rest of the series is plug-and-play with no wiring, but the STI-3331 Extender requires wiring. It also falls outside the UL/cUL listing that covers the other models, and outside the 10-sound selection. Plan an electrician or a wired location for it; the transmitters and the receiver need neither.
