Precision-ground knife-type blades cut the insulation rather than crushing it, and the tool virtually eliminates nicking, cutting or fraying on non-precision wire. A built-in gripper holds the conductor on the center line of the stripping hole so the blades close evenly around it instead of biting one side. That matters where a nicked strand becomes a failure point, such as control wiring and device terminations.
